The Mobile Health Group | Hauora Taiwhenua Scholarships are open for 2024! This opportunity will provide financial support to four rural students to pursue their health studies.
The four scholarships (with at least one targeted at Māori/Pasifika student) each valued at $5,000, will be offered to any rural youth entering their first year of full-time undergraduate study in Nursing, Medicine, or allied health related courses at any New Zealand Universities, Polytechnics, or PTEs.
Providing scholarships to rural youth pursuing health studies is crucial in addressing the chronic shortage of rural healthcare workers. By incentivising and supporting young individuals from rural areas to pursue careers in healthcare, we aim to cultivate a sustainable solution to the longstanding issue of healthcare workforce deficits in rural communities. These scholarships not only empower students to access higher education but also encourage them to return to their communities as qualified healthcare professionals, thereby ensuring better healthcare access and outcomes for rural populations in the long term.
The closing date for applications is 30 September 2024 at 5pm.
