1,000 patients treated on board the Mobile Surgical Unit – Te Waka Hauora in Rangiora.
Mobile Surgical is proud to celebrate a significant milestone in Rangiora, having now provided care to 1,000 patients within the community. This achievement reflects the dedication of our clinical teams and the strong collaboration with local clinicians and the Rangiora Health Hub, whose support ensures high‑quality surgical services remain accessible close to home.
We were pleased to welcome Hon Matt Doocey, MP for Waimakariri, and the Mayor of Waimakariri, Dan Gordon, to mark this occasion.

6-year-old Kylo becomes our 1,000th patient.
The mobile Surgical Unit brings the operating theatre directly to 25 rural communities, serving people who live and work outside urban centres.
Strong partnerships are the backbone of the service – more than half of our host sites have now completed over 1,000 operations, with several reaching new milestones this year — Kaikohe, Oamaru, and Balclutha each surpassing 1,500 procedures.
Over the past 12 months, 70% of our patients have been children needing urgent dental care. Mobile Surgical is working closely with local providers to address backlogs and ensure tamariki receive the care they need.
Chief Executive of Mobile Health Group, Mark Eager, says: “We’re grateful to the Rangiora community for embracing the MSU and trusting us with their care. Reaching 1,000 patients is a shared achievement, and we look forward to supporting many more.”

He adds, “Having young Kylo as our 1,000th patient is a reminder of why we do this work. Every patient matters, and every family deserves care that’s close to home.”
Watch how we’re making a difference.
