Waikato Hospital in Hamilton was chosen as the location to hold a one-day Acute Nursing Assessment and Management course for rural graduate nurses. Twenty-four nurses from rural hospitals and practices from around the Waikato came together for a day with our post graduate nursing tutor, Heather Josland. Nurses from as far as Whitianga, Tokoroa, Whangamata, Otorohanga and Turangi were updated on respiratory, cardiovascular, cardiac skills and diabetes, with a final application to a patient scenario. Theory, interspersed with hands-on practical activities, provided a stimulating and enjoyable learning experience for all!
